A new research study published in “The Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation (JHTR),” found that chronic pain affects approximately 60% of people living with traumatic brain injury (TBI)—some up to 30 years after injury. The study is the first to examine chronic pain in a large TBI sample this far post-injury. Researchers surveyed 3,804 patients, all of whom had been hospitalized with moderate to severe TBI. About half of them reported current chronic pain, and of that group, 32.5% reported constant pain.
